Dear colleagues,
The International Federation for Psychotherapy (IFP) has invited the Dutch Psychotherapy Association (NVP) to organize the 22nd International Congress on Psychotherapy in 2018, June 7-9 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. We would like to invite you to submit an abstract for presentations at this conference.
The theme
In a rather divided psychotherapy world - reflected in competing theoretical perspectives - we would like to stress the power of collaboration to optimize a patient centered approach in clinical practice from a diverse perspective. Therefore we have chosen as theme 'Psychotherapy; stronger through diversity'.
We especially welcome abstracts that reflect either diverse theoretical or clinical views, or presentations with an over-arching approach. What do we know about what actually works in psychotherapy? What are the mechanisms of change? Which neurobiological processes are relevant for mental improvement? How do recently developed methods for analysis of clinical and research data become helpful in selecting the best treatment for an individual patient? How will psychotherapy remain economically sustainable?
In addition, clinical practice is challenged to create new and feasible interventions for online applications. Which interventions are fit to be transformed into an overarching format?
According to its mission statement, the aim of the IFP is to promote, endorse and maintain high professional and ethical standards of psychotherapy in practice, research, and training. The IFP fosters a worldwide intercultural, interdisciplinary dialogue and mutual learning among psychotherapists, psychotherapy researchers, psychotherapeutic orientations, traditions, and related sciences. The IFP provides a platform for the development of theories, methods and treatment approaches, and promotes the integration of psychotherapeutic thinking in clinical and non-clinical fields.
